Welcome to PACS

Our mission is to reduce the suffering of STRAY & WILD animals on Koh Phangan. Phangan Animal Care For Strays Foundation is a non-profit organization. We are an animal hospital that provides life-saving medical treatment, vaccinations, and sterilisations to stray and wild animals of Koh Phangan.

Make a Donation

We receive no government funding and rely entirely on donations and volunteers to provide these vital services to the animals of the island. Additionally, we are a very small team of only 3 core staff members. The number of volunteers we have fluctuates depending on the current flow of tourism to the island. Please be patient with us as we are doing our absolute best to manage the never-ending list of animals that require our care.

What we do

  • To provide treatment for ill and injured strays as well as provide a safe place for them to recover

  • To alleviate pain and suffering where necessary

  • To keep rabies and other infectious diseases at bay through vaccination programs

  • To reduce the number of stray animals through CNVR (Catch Neuter Vaccinate Return) programs.

  • To collaborate with local communities and visitors to create awareness of the consequences of abandonment, abuse and neglect.

  • To encourage local and international Veterinary Professionals to offer support by means of expertise, time and resources.

  • To raise the funds and resources necessary to meet the needs of our stray animal population.

WHAT WE DON’T DO

  • Provide care or shelter for owned pets.
  • Actively rehome stray animals unless absolutely necessary***
  • Provide shelter for healthy stray animals.
  • Take in or provide assistance to find or rehome ‘lost,’ abandoned or misplaced animals.

***If an animal in our care is deemed ‘at risk’ and not suitable to be returned safely to their natural habitat or pack, then we will try to rehome these animals when necessary. If you are looking to adopt a rescue please reach out to see which animals we currently have available.

IF YOUR ANIMAL IS MISSING OR NEEDS TO BE REHOMED:

Please post a detailed description and relevant photos to the local Facebook groups. If the animal is lost we also recommend printing out paper flyers to post in your area. Offering a reward is often a good incentive for community members to get involved, although not required.

IF YOU HAVE FOUND AN ANIMAL YOU THINK IS LOST:

Please take photos or videos and post it to the local Facebook groups. Never remove an animal from where you found it unless it is severely injured and requires immediate medical attention. The unfortunate reality is there are many stray animals on Koh phangan that simply do not have homes, and are well adapted to living life on the streets. The chance that this animal is already known in the area and has an established pack is high. Removing these animals from their natural habitat and pack is dangerous and puts the animal’s life at risk.
